#OnTuesdaysWeDraw – January 2025
2025 and we’re just about at the end of a long January!
January was a good time to review the work I did last year and which projects I’d like to do more of. One of my favourite commissions was this name print, having previously drawn one for Amber’s older sister it was great to return to the jungle setting and come up with new animals for the letters.
I tied them both together with the same colours and background style but wanted to draw unique animals to personalise them. I liked the burst of colour the chameleon added in the corner so echoed this is with a fabulously colourful toucan.
If you have a personalised print you’d like to commission, drop me an email at Kat@anidoodle.com and I can discuss ideas and prices for your bespoke print.
What else are you working on?
Another reflection this month was the number of photos in my camera reel I take thinking ‘I’ll go back at some point and draw that’ and never got round to. I thought I’d do a few of those this year as a fun Tuesday project. The first was these two seagulls from a trip to Devon, they kept popping up whenever we started cooking (or even thought about it). Of course, I couldn’t just redraw the photo I had to put my cartoony spin on this dubious duo. Follow along on Instagram to see future Tuesday drawings here - https://www.instagram.com/anidoodle1/
Enough looking back! New for me this month was a life drawing class at the Wycombe Arts Centre. Encouraged to come along by my friend and fellow artist, Sammy -
, it was great to see a workshop in my hometown. I’m not ready to share my drawings from there, but I did feel it was a great session to stretch my skills and dust off some of those January blues. I plan to go back to keep me practicing and moving beyond my comfort zone. Another ‘new’ is that I’ve joined BlueSky, for now I’ll continue to post on Instagram as I think it’s currently still the best way to share my drawings. If you’re on Bluesky then give me a follow @anidoodle.bsky.socialI’ve also reopened my Etsy shop at the start of the month, so head over there for pins, comics and stickers, which I’ll talk more about illustrating next month!
Thank you for following along,
Kat
