Shadows and Creatures
#OnTuesdaysWeDraw - October 2025
A little poetic ghost for Halloween today. I drew this ghost back in April as part of Sammy Ward’s Art Ritual prompt ‘shadow’ in her #AprilGhouls2025 challenge.
It’s the end of October and I’m over halfway colouring in my new comic, Goblins and Greedy Choices, which means it’ll soon be time to print! This time I’ve lettered the comic before colouring. This has worked well, helping me to avoid spending lots of time colouring a detail in the background that is then covered by text. Colouring is one of my favourite parts of making a comic, here’s a look inside at one of the introductory pages.
Initially I drew this page over two A4 sheets as I wanted to include lots of details, I then scanned and put the images together in Photoshop. At first I started colouring the buildings with the same colour orangey-red roof on each thinking it would save time. But when I returned to the page I felt I hadn’t quite captured the fantasy feel I was aiming for. I then added in lots more colour which I think helps to give the town a bit more of a lived in, old-time, feel rather than all the buildings being built from the same material at the same time. The town was definitely inspired by a trip to the medieval town, Canale di Tenno, in Italy over the summer. I just loved all the wobbly buildings and little details of the shuttered and balconies.
Goblins and Greedy Choices is a fun adventure telling the story of three goblins trying to get their wishes granted. In this fantasy world you get to pick the paths the goblins go down to change the story each time you read it. With the finish line in sight I’ve added a pre-order on Etsy for this comic. It will still be a few weeks before it’s printed and then shipped, if you’d like to support the project and place an order here’s the link.
What else are you working on?
I really appreciated everyone who came by my table at London MCM and although the days were long I came away motivated and inspired by the artists I met. I’m excited to attend more and have a fun mix of comic cons and Christmas fairs lined up for November.
At Thought Bubble I’ll be taking part in The Unofficial Thought Bubble Sticker Club #utbsc25. This year’s theme is ‘Gotta Stick Em All’ and you’ll be able to go around the convention collecting creature stickers from different exhibitors involved! Being part of the sticker club is first for me and a fun challenge to come up with a creature. I think that it turned out really cute, and I’m excited to see it in sticker form. At Thought Bubble I’ll be in the Comixology Hall - B37, if you’re at the event be sure to check out the trail.
Thank you for following along,
